Weekend of Candy

All 4 sessions of conference were awesome! Since the kids remembered a few talks after the first session on Saturday, I decided to challenge them. I told them that they could each have a piece of candy for each talk they could remember for the rest of the sessions. I have a bag of hard candies that my Mom gave me last week (mints, jolly ranchers, strawberries w/ chewy center, etc). They were really excited! Felicia decided that she wanted to take notes, so that she could remember even more! ha ha. Ashley was able to remember more each time, Nathaniel did great and Felicia took notes during the other 3 sessions. She wrote down the speaker's name, and several things they talked about. She was so cute! And her notes are actually really good. So, naturally, she got the most candy, but the others did good & were happy with their pieces of candy, too. Anson remembered words like "church" and "Jesus" for 2 sessions, then the last one he admitted he "wasn't listening" so I asked him to repeat the name President Hinckley. He could do it, so he got one piece for each session. ha ha. I had to give him at least something since everyone else was loading up. He was pleased with his one piece of candy! Nathaniel kept telling me that eating candy is FUN! They did great! I don't think I listened as well as they did when I was their age! WAY TO GO KIDDOS!!!

Candy rewards are a great idea! My kids always get a new notepad for conference so they can "take notes". Last April, I forgot to get them out, so my DD got her own out and got all ready to take notes the night before.

I know my kids pay more attention than I did, probably until I got married.

Hopefully you aren't going to the dentist any time soon :)

My parents never made me watch. I was always down the street playing with Courtney Hamberlin- Her parents never made her watch either.
