My car is truly a blessing! I am so grateful that I have a reliable car that fits our whole family!

I was one of those people who never wanted a minivan, but have really come to appreciate the wonderful interior space & ease of opening/closing electric sliding doors! We have travelled great distances in our fabulous bright red minivan. It can fit a lot of luggage, food, toys, blankets & pillows, our portable dvd player w/ 2 screens, 2 umbrella strollers, our 2 black labs, and lots of other stuff! AND we don't have a car payment!!

We only bought our minivan when I was pregnant with Anson (our #4) because we couldn't fit one more kid in our Honda Accord. I am SO GLAD that we did!

Thanks Ben for helping me see that a minivan can be cool! LOL :)

In June 2005, my Mom visited me in Texas and gave me a brand new Bosch Mixer and Nutrimill Grinder. She also showed me how to grind my own wheat and use it to make delicious homemade wheat bread. That was one of my best weeks ever! We also went out on a limb and made gigantic wonderful fluffy cinnamon rolls! WOW! Those were tasty!

So my blessing this week is my appreciation for my awesome kitchen appliances to make bread for my family!

Thanks Mom for my Bosch & grinder and for teaching me a wonderful new skill!!

I am so BLESSED to have a TERRIFIC DAD!! He has always been supportive of me. He's very smart and spiritual. Whenever I have a question about the scriptures or gospel doctrine, I can always go to him. If he doesn't know the answer immediately, then he will find out and let me know. He is fun to be around and enjoys telling funny stories & jokes. We always have a good time hanging out together! We went camping a lot as a family growing up & I still love camping. He makes an awesome peach cobbler in the dutch oven. I love to go target shooting with him. He is very thoughtful & sweet. He likes giving my Mom flowers for special occasions or 'just because.' He is an excellent leader. He makes friends very easily. He's also a wonderful Grandpa to my children. They love him dearly & think he's so cool. He spent a lot of time helping us remodel our home. I'm so glad that he's MY DAD!!

I LOVE YOU, DAD!!!

52 Blessings - Week 12

My 52 weeks of Blessings in no particular order.

My Blessing this week is Our Home.
When we moved back to Arizona (2 yrs ago) we were in the process of selling our home in Texas and didn't have very much money for a down payment on a home. We were so nervous that we weren't going to be able to find what we were looking for and in our price range. We basically were looking for a 4 bedroom, 2 bath home with at least 1800 sqft or more. We didn't care if it was new or old, but we also wanted to be close to our family. We looked at so many houses and were disappointed. We could NOT believe our eyes when we found our home. We viewed it the same day the "For Sale" sign went up in their yard. We immediately fell in love with the layout & open space feel to it. Our realtor was kind of surprised that we could look passed all the work that was needed and still love it. We bought it and then the work began. We did almost all of the work on our home ourselves (with my Dad's guidance in some areas). Ben was AMAZING! He was working full time plus working on the house almost every free moment he had. I helped where I could, but sometimes my job was to take care of the kids so he could get work done. My parents were so generous and kind to let us live with them while we looked for a home and during the remodeling. We did as much work as we could so that we could move in. Then Ben still continued to work on the house. Most of the interior is done, but the exterior still needs a lot of work. Sometimes it doesn't seem like it will ever all be done. But we are still so grateful that we found a nice home and so close to family. We love our neighborhood and ward. We have fabulous neighbors! I'm also very grateful that we have enough space, so that Heather & Trevor could stay with us for a while.

This week I am thankful for my Marriage.
I am so blessed to have a wonderful, loving husband, and we just celebrated our 12th Anniversary on March 15th! We have had good times, some hard & challenging times, and an abundance of really great times together! I think the trials we have endured together has really helped us appreciate each other more and grow closer and stronger as a couple (and family). I know that Ben loves me and has always been there for me and is very understanding. It's a great feeling to know that he would do anything for our family. I love that he calls me during his lunch break and on the way home from work just to chat about our day and tell me that he loves me. I always look forward to his calls.
I Love You oodles & gobs, Honey!!

"I'm very blessed to have wonderful In-Laws! Nancy & Jim have always been so kind to me and welcomed me to the family immediately. They are so sweet & thoughtful."

I love that we all get along so well & I can talk to Nancy for a long time about anything. She used to visit us when we lived in Texas and we always had a great time! We talk on the phone a lot and it's great to have such a caring Mother-In-Law! Jim always has interesting stories to tell. He's so tall that his warm hugs feel like a big bear! It's awesome!
I love you both tons!! Thanks for always loving me and making me feel a part of the family from the first day we met!

52 Blessings - Week 9

I was just updating my blog banner & I liked it so much, that I decided to make it bigger into a layout so I could print it. Just looking at our family picture made me so HAPPY.

My Blessing this week is MY FAMILY!! I couldn't imagine NOT being with them. I am so thankful that we can be a Family Forever! I know I have already posted about my hubby, my girls & my boys, but now I'm just so grateful that we can always be together as a family!!Knowing that we will always be together, I think it really makes us work harder at everything we do & also appreciate each other more! I'm not saying our family is perfect, we are far from it. (And we will be even happier when the kids' book reports/projects will be done this week. grrr don't get me started.) But I love each and every person in my family. And not just my little family within my house. I'm also so blessed to have wonderful extended families! I Love ALL of them!!! Thank you for being a part of my Eternal FAMILY!!

We wanted to do something together as a family tonight, so we decided to take the kids to the Mesa Temple Visitor's Center this evening to see the "Reflections of Christ" exhibit depicting Jesus' life on earth shown in photographs taken by Mark Mabry. One word - WOW!!! He is very talented & these photographs are AMAZING!! You could feel our Savior's LOVE just by looking at all the beautiful photographs and listening to the sweet music. Even my littlest one, Anson, could tell me who was in the pictures and that He loves ALL of us. We can learn so much from Christ's example. And I'm so grateful for His atoning sacrifice so that we may all be resurrected & live again!

52 Blessings - Week 8, Women's Conference

(My 52 Weeks of Blessings in No Particular Order)

This weekend I had the opportunity to attend our Stake Relief Society Women's Conference. The theme was "It's About Time" and it was incredible. I was running late trying to get the kids ready. Ben had to work on Saturday (as usual) but they were offering a children's class, so that's why I was able to go to this meeting. Anyway, since we didn't even leave until 9:30am (and it started at 9am), I almost didn't go because I hate being late especially that late. I am SO GLAD that I finally piled the kids in the car and headed to church. Some young women were volunteering to help with the children's class, so that all women age 18 and older could attend.

Here's the list of speakers and their topics:
* Susette Cardon Hiatt "It's about time to balance our lives"
* Chef Brad Petersen "It's about time to find joy in what we are doing" and he also helped us ALL make bread (then the dough was used to make fry bread for Navajo tacos for the luncheon)
* Edwin Lamoreaux "It's about time to lighten up"
* Angela Johnson "It's about time to come unto Christ"

WOW!!! These speakers are all AMAZING people!! And SO TALENTED!! I missed most of the first speaker (Susette) but I received her handout and need to read it.

Chef Brad was funny and really made sense about how we should find JOY in all that we do as women/mothers. He talked while we ALL had ingredients in front of us to make bread dough (well we worked in pairs). He mentioned how we really enjoy serving others and we should find that same JOY in serving our own families as well. Everything we do is a service and we are blessing our families and in turn we are blessed. Like cooking/cleaning is an act of service for our families (or anyone else) and the Lord recognizes it as that. He explained it really well and he was also funny and just overall had some really interesting ideas or points of view. He said it's all in our ATTITUDE! So true!!

"Relief Society Rewind - A Walk through Time" A group of sisters from one of the wards put on an INCREDIBLE 'skit' about women through the decades. It was particularly about women who live(d) here in Arizona and ways that the Relief Society Sisters have blessed their lives.

Edwin Lamoreaux apparently speaks for the youth a lot. I can see why they keep asking him to do that. He is a wonderful speaker (even though most of his talk was kind of singing with his guitar - all clever songs he made up himself). He was really funny and told us that we need to have our "feet firmly planted on the rock." We need to have a firm foundation and hold strong to our values in life. He had us laughing and crying all at the same time. AWESOME!!

Our concluding speaker was Angela Johnson. She has trained as an operatic soprano since she was 13. She sang "Amazing Grace" for us while we looked at a beautiful picture of our Savior on a projector. Oh my goodness! Her voice is so BEAUTIFUL!! She told us that just 12 years ago, she needed a musical "break" and just spontaneously hopped in the car and drove to a craft store and bought a small block of clay and one tool. She came home and sculpted a small figurine. She had no prior training in sculpting. She had just 'unlocked' this amazing talent that she didn't even know she had. As time went on, she eventually was divinely inspired to create a life-size statue of the Savior entitled "Come Unto Me" and it was displayed at the Newport California Temple open house. WOW!! She had several of her sculptures at the church so we could see them, plus she showed us a power-point presentation of some of her other sculptures. She has an AMAZING talent!! She explained the story behind each sculpture and how she created them so that others could look at them and feel our Savior's love and want to 'come unto Him.' She has a large exhibit that will be on display at the Mesa Arizona Temple Visitor's Center in March. You can check out her website HERE to preview some of her works. I can guarantee if you've never seen her work (which I hadn't before) that you will be blown away!! Her sculptures have incredible details and just looking at them, you really feel as though Christ is in the room with you.

OK, onto my Blessing for this week. Can you guess what it is?
The journaling on the mat is the 'Relief Society Declaration' (if you can't read it, click on the picture to get bigger or you can go HERE to read it). The journaling on the bottom reads:

"I am so blessed to be a part of the Relief Society program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The Sisterhood is so strong, wonderful, and truly amazing! I love the friendships that I've gained and have learned so much from so many women (and continue to learn). I love each of my 'sisters' and have a special place in my heart for them."

I love everything that the Relief Society stands for and does for women. I am so happy that I went to the Women's Conference this weekend and was able to make some new friends, learn some new things, strengthen our sisterhood, and be spiritually uplifted. When it was over, we had a big luncheon. I ran into someone I had just met on Valentine's Day helping in one of my kids' class parties. She's a mom of one of my kids' friends. We sat together and were able to get to know each other a little better. I love when that happens. She is so sweet and very creative (she planned their whole class party and also does Art Masterpiece for their class on a regular basis). I also had the opportunity on Friday to serve a sister in our ward by babysitting her youngest boy for part of the day while she and some 'sisters' helped get her apartment ready to bring home her brand new baby girl. It always feels so good to be able to serve or help others and know that my 'sisters' are there for me in time of need also.

Ok, this post turned out way longer than I had originally planned. Just so much on my mind from a fantastic weekend!!

52 Blessings - Week 7

(My weeks of blessings in no particular order.)

This week I'd like to show my gratitude for my sweet Sister-in-Law, Heather (Ben's younger sister)! We moved back to Arizona just over 2 years ago (still can't believe it's been that long already) to be closer to family. Ben and I have been married almost 12 years (in March) and Heather and I have been friends since we met, but it's just in the last 2 years that we've gotten a LOT closer! I have grown to love her even more than I already did.
She is so nice, thoughtful, genuine, caring, funny, beautiful, giving, creative, and a wonderful wife & mother. Our sons are like best friends/cousins. She's also a really good cook and loves trying new recipes. Luckily, she shares her recipes with me. We just had a blast playing Karaoke American Idol yesterday for probably about 3 hours straight, singing duets together the whole time until our voices gave out. And we totally ROCKED!!! I really enjoy her company and just hanging out together!

I am so sad that she's moving out of state on Tuesday! We are still going to call each other and email as often as we can. I feel so BLESSED to have her as one of my Sisters! She is such a great friend to me. Thank you for all you do, Heather! I LOVE you TONS and we're going to MISS all of you a LOT!!! Good Luck with your move! Hope you get there safely and everything goes well for your family! You deserve the BEST!!

52 Blessings - Week 6

My BOYS are such a JOY in my life. They are so sweet, cute, handsome, funny, energetic, helpful, smart, and cuddly. Nathaniel has always been my "sweet pea" (although I only call him that once in a while) and Anson is my "bubbers" (don't know how we came up with that one). I couldn't imagine our family without these little guys!

When I was having a really bad day recently, Nathaniel told me "Mom, you make me really happy and I LOVE you so much!" He just melts my heart! He has also been a super great helper around the house lately. He is growing so fast and I feel like he's going to be all grown up before I know it. He is becoming a really good reader and enjoys Math (ahh a true follower of my heart). He loves playing video games (esp on xbox360) but also enjoys being outside (exploring and looking for bugs, riding his bike or rollerblades). He loves cub scouts and is getting really excited about our upcoming Pinewood Derby.

Anson is such a sweet little cuddle monster! He is always giving me hugs and kisses and tells me that he loves me! We enjoy our special time together while the other kids are at school. He is my "little/big man of the house" while they're gone and I know he loves it! He makes me laugh all the time. He's just such a cute little critter. He shows me his tummy so I can tickle him and pretends like he doesn't want me to. He is becoming quite the little helper also. He loves carrying groceries in the house with me and checking the mail. Just the other day, he put on his cloth Spider-Man mask and lifted part of it to uncover his lips then told me to kiss him! You know the way they did in the movie! LOL :) I do NOT want this guy getting any bigger. Can't they all just stay this age forever?!

"Little Boys are Angels Too" I LOVE you guys always!!
This layout is also for Tangie's "Lift Challenge" and credits can be seen HERE.
I scraplifted this from PurdueLiz's "It's Snow Yummy" layout.

52 Blessings - Week 5

I am so grateful for my daughters - Felicia & Ashley! They are so sweet, smart, beautiful, fun and dramatic! Definitely Sugar and Spice - LOL! They can be such great helpers or the ones causing the chaos, but at the end of the day, I get so many hugs & kisses that it's all worth it! Felicia & Ashley I LOVE YOU oodles & gobs!

I made this layout using my Berry Fabulous freebie kit and DigiNirvana's "Pink Jewel" Alpha (recolored).

52 Blessings - Week 4

This morning I was thinking about what I could spotlight as my Blessing for this week, and then it really hit me today at church. In primary, our lesson was about Lehi's Dream, and we were discussing the symbolism - the Rod is the Word of God, the Tree is Christ's Love and the Fruit is Eternal Life. Also, I was thinking about yesterday at Felicia's activity, she brought home a plaque that says "Daughter of God" and they told the girls that every girl is a Princess because our Heavenly Father is our King and she really loved that. I am so thankful for my Savior and knowing that I am a Child of God.
Journaling:
It is such a Blessing to know that I am a Child of God and my Savior Loves me! I know He suffered and died for me and was Resurrected so that I may live again. I am so thankful for the Gospel and to have it in my life. I am grateful that I have the Word of God so that I may grow closer to Him with each word that I read and study.
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you."

52 Blessings - Week 2

I am so GRATEFUL for MY MOM!!! This woman is AMAZING!! She is so thoughtful, nurturing, caring, fun, silly, spiritual, giving (of herself and her time), teaching, compassionate, great listener, helpful, and the list can go on and on! And she's one of my Best Friends! We talk to each other all the time (even when I lived in another state) and we love to hang out! We have fun window shopping (or actual shopping if we have the wonderful email coupons) at Kirkland's & our quick trips to Subway for lunch! She also works at the Temple 2 days a week and is very patient and kind as the Trainer for the new sisters. She's so great with our kids and she's a fabulous GRANDMA! I am so glad she's my MOM!

"God could not be everywhere, so he created MOTHERS"

Journaling reads:

I Love my Mom so much I don't know what I would ever do without her! She is always there for me! She is one of my Best Friends. She is such a blessing in my life. I Love You, Mom!

52 Blessings - Week 1

I got this idea from ONEHM and Cara (you can go HERE to see more fun ideas for resolutions). I really LOVE this idea, so I decided to add this to my RESOLUTIONS. I'm going to take a picture of something I'm grateful for each week of the year & do a scrapbook layout with my photos, so by the end of the year, I should have 52 pages of BLESSINGS!!! I will post my BLESSING each week. If you want to do the same thing, I would love to see your photo posts also (Please leave me a comment so I can see yours too - it doesn't have to be a scrapbook layout that is just what I want to do with my photos. If you decide to do this, you can do whatever you want with your photos.)!

Week 1
Yes, that really does say "Calendars" & I know Calendars may sound like a weird thing to be grateful for, but seriously, I need a calendar in order to keep my family organized! And with the New Year just beginning, I get to pick out new calendars and it's exciting to me! (Yes, I'm very easily amused :)
